Beeswax Absolute

Beeswax being a natural material is extracted from beehives. The worker bee after attaining a certain age develops such glands in its abdomen that it in turn produces fine wax scales emerging from the abdomen rings. Honeycomb in the hive is made from these scales capping the cells that are filled with honey. Beeswax absolute is removed from the honeycomb or from wax cakes that are made by melting honeycomb with the use of solvents. The raw material is cleaned and strained to make it free of impurities.

Beeswax has a balsamic fragrance with the delicious and sweet flavors of honey. The aroma can at times be intoxicatingly floral depending on the source of that particular beeswax. Fresh beeswax however is colorless and transparent but develops a golden color when it comes in contact with honey and pollen. The thickness and consistency depends on the temperature it is kept in. It becoming a solid at room temperature and has to be heated with the help of a hot water bottle or kept in hot water to become a liquid.
